I am in love with the Japanese countryside, especially in summer - the lazy heat, the drone of cicadas, and the rice fields that are so green it almost hurts my eyes!

I hope this print brings you memories of summers past, and an awe for nature's deep beauty.

The fox statue you see here commonly appears in pairs, guarding shrines to Inari, the Shinto god of rice, agriculture and fertility. Inari shrines are very common in Japan, both in cities as well as the countryside.

We're proud to showcase this print, which was designed by Jed Henry and created by apprentice printmaker Stephen Winiecki. You can see more of Stephen's work here. Stephen is a talented craftsman - for this print he even figured out how to add a little stony texture to the fox statue. Special effects!

The paper measures 13.5 x 17 cm (about 5 x 7 inches).

Each print is signed by Jed Henry and numbered.

The color was applied in the traditional Japanese method, with hand-carved blocks, ground pigments, and hand printing on handmade paper.
